Molly & Curran — Our Story

Some love stories begin with a first date or a chance meeting.Ours began years before either of us realized it.Long before we ever spoke, our lives were already quietly intertwined. My grandma lived in Richmond Heights, and growing up I spent countless days at her house. Just one street behind her lived Curran. We played with many of the same neighborhood kids, yet somehow never with each other. We were always nearby, but never quite in the same moment.When I was 12 years old, my family moved to Richmond Heights while our home on Ethel Avenue was being built. Before long, we settled into our new house, and I started my freshman year at Clayton High School.Curran was a couple of years ahead of me. We passed each other in the hallways almost every day, knew who the other was, and shared mutual friends, but that was about it. I knew he played lacrosse, and I definitely thought he was cute, but our story wasn't meant to start then.After graduation, life took us in different directions for a while. Then, in 2018, fate seemed to step back in.One afternoon, I was walking my dog, Lucy, around the neighborhood when I spotted Curran outside his house, gardening. We smiled, said a quick hello, and kept going.It was such a simple interaction, but I couldn't stop thinking about it the entire walk home.Since I had just moved back intown from living in oregon, I was on dating apps. I worked all the time and didn't drink so the apps seemed helpful for my situation. Anyway, I was on on of those apps, one afternoon, and there he was. Curran Conradi. My heart stopped and couldn't believe I now had the chance to talk to him. Since I didn't have his number, this seemed like meant to be. So, I did something unlike me, I messaged him and asked if he wanted to hang out. That one message changed everything.We started as friends, spending more and more time together and slowly realizing there was something bigger between us. We had both been hurt before, so neither of us rushed into anything. Instead, we built a friendship first, one that made falling in love feel easy.Eventually, I reached a point where I couldn't wonder anymore. During one of our late-night phone calls, I finally asked him if this was really going somewhere. It was now or never.That conversation changed our lives.Not only did we decide to take the leap together, but it was also the very first time we told each other, "I love you."Looking back, it's incredible to think that our story wasn't built on one big, life-changing moment. It was built over years of crossed paths, familiar streets, shared neighborhoods, and perfect timing.Sometimes the right person has been there all along—you just have to grow into the moment you're finally meant to meet.
